World Bird Wednesday: A Great Egret or two

Another bird from my trip out to Lake Wivenhoe. This Great Egret with non breeding facial colour - yellow bill and facial skin. This one wasn't keen on allowing me very close even with my "stalker lens"


OK... too close. I'm out of here!


Yep... I think this is far enough away from stalker lady...

As I was photographing the developing colours of the sunset I saw another Great Egret

Sporting breeding colours - bill mostly black and facial colours green

This one wasn't too sure about stalker lady either!

    Stalker lady got a nice set of shots though!

    I love egrets. They are graceful stalkers with a precision strike. Fun to watch, but difficult to capture for sure! You got some great pics ;)

    Have been told that if you get down on your stomach and move slowly towards birds, they don't tend to get so wary of you. I've yet to try it as I might never be able to get back up again. :)

    I never get tired of Egret shots, even thought there are thousands of them here. If you Google, Lake Martin (Louisiana) you will see the beautiful birds and swamp where I live. I ever get tired of shooting photos there.

    Hi there - I actually think I like the one showing the egret and the sun set the best - even if the bird is small in the picture. It has great atmosphere.

    Hey Liz! Great shots! Looks like on one of the shots you had a hard choice to make, the Egret or the sunset. Or better yet you got them both! Fantastic! Sorry I've been out of touch for a bit but I've been really busy trying to set up my business amongst daily life with the kids. Oh! Ya! Mix in my disability and things have been one big blur!!
