World Bird Wednesday: Hardhead Duck & Mallard Duck

On one of my recent visits to the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, I discovered a lone Hardhead amongst a large group of Pacific Black Ducks. The Hardhead is the only true diving duck found in Australia.

On this same visit, there was also a lone Mallard. The Mallard is not native to Australia and was introduced from the 1860's. Such stunning colours!

  13. Wow Liz, that Hardhead Duck is so cool. I love those warm brown and gold colors. Of course the Mallard has that beautiful plumage we get to see everywhere in the states but they are still special to me.
