Wild Bird Wednesday: Superb Fairy Wren
Thank you a million times, Stewart, for taking on the role of hosting a Wednesday bird meme. I was wondering what I would do with all my bird shots. Due to my slackness in blogging last week I totally missed your first link up, but here's my first post for your meme.
The Superb Fairy Wren has been a bird I have been wanting to capture since I started photographing birds late last year. In the last two weeks I got lucky on two occasions. The first was a different bird song I heard in my own back yard... to my surprise this little bird was flitting back and forth on my back fence, so I took my camera outside and sat at our outdoor table & waited. It was a very overcast day, and the light was terrible, but this is what I captured. I believe it's a juvenile female.
The following day the little bird came back with it's brightly coloured parent but he was too quick for me to capture (all I got was a blurry shot)... I wasn't happy!!
Then last week, we drove into the city to visit the Roma Street Parklands. The plan was to capture some flower shots as my daughter Bec & I had borrowed my friends macro lens. While I was busy shooting macros, I heard a familiar song right nearby. I looked up to see this juvenile Superb Fairy Wren on the fence rail, singing his heart out!! A quick change of lens to my 55-250mm, aka stalker lens, and I snapped away until he decided to fly off. Again the light wasn't great, as it was in a shaded area of the gardens.
Suffice to say, I came home delighted!!

Barn Charm: TLC required
Driving in rural Brisbane, a couple of months ago, I noticed this old barn on a property. It's sadly in need of some TLC, but I doubt it will get it.

Project 366 Rewind {Week 28}
It's the end of another week and I'm just sneaking in by a whisker for last weeks post!! I really need to get more organised.... and not stay up so late procesing images.
Day 190 (July 8) - I discovered this beautiful orange creeper growing all over a brick wall at New Farm Park.
Day 191 (July 9) - "Golden Hour" is one of my favourite times of the day to shoot images.
Day 192 (July 10) - It rained most of this day, so I decided to do a little editing & some more collages. These images were taken in December 2011 when I visited my parents on the Mornington Peninsula. This is the old Mornington train station & some of the track. The train doesn't go this far anymore. I used the "Shock My Pick" app on my iPhone to created the painted effect.
Day 193 (July 11) - The blue sky came out for a while and the cloud patterns were amazing!
Day 194 (July 12) - Another day of rain... so I decided to use some creativity and shoot outside of my comfort zone. I love how this clothes peg shot turned out!
Day 195 (July 13) - Bees on Lavender.
Day 196 (July 14) - Eastern Water Dragon sunning itself in the gardens.

Burleigh Heads in Winter
One beautiful Wednesday (2 weeks ago), we took a drive down to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. It was a perfect winter's day...
There was shell collecting to be done
Sun to soak up, hot tea & a little Instagramming too
My "baby" girl, Bec (aka Through the Lens; RAD Photography ), enjoying time out on her mid year University break
And Michael's "baby" girl, Lizzie, enjoying school holidays
And for those who could, there were waves to catch...
