It's been raining all week and I haven't used my DSLR for 10 days now!! Thank God for iPhones & Instagram!

Here are some images from last month when the weather was nicer...

World Bird Wednesday: Australian Pelican Antics

While out at Cleveland Point a few weeks ago (when the weather was nicer), I captured these Australian Pelicans.

Has anyone seen my keys???

I found one of their behaviours rather interesting as I hadn't seen it before... so much so that I Googled it when I got home...
I have named this beak stretching behaviour "Pelican Party Trick". The National Geographic calls it Pelican yoga. It looks more like a teenage party trick to me....

I still can't find my keys...

And just incase I missed it the first time... he did his Party trick again...

There's that lady with the camera again...

As you were...

Project 366 Rewind {Week 24}

Another week has flown by so fast, and I'm almost half way through this project.

Day 162 (10 June) - After having no roses for 3 years, I finally bought a rose for our little garden. This one is called Chicago Peace - beautiful colours & a soft perfume.

Day 163 (11 June) - New growth.

Day 164 (12 June) - From a low angle.

Day 165 (13 June) - Come sit a while...

Day 166 (June 14) - I was tagged on Instagram to do a green themed collage of 9 images.

Day 167 (June 15) - A different view of my city from the other side with the Story bridge in the foreground. It's called "the river city" for a reason - the river bends around the city centre. In the floods of Jan 2011, almost the entire city centre was under water.

Day 168 (June 16) - Another trip into Southbank and I can't resist photographing the Brisbane Wheel. This time I tried a different angle. I love the white against the blue cloudless sky.

World Bird Wednesday: Chestnut-breasted Mannikin

While waiting for my daughter to get out of surgery, hubby & I visited a local suburban park near the hospital. This park isn't listed as a birding spot but a walk on the boardwalk into the marsh resulted in a real treat.
We discovered many small birds flitting about & singing. This little Chestnut-breasted Mannikin (and friend/partner??) were quite happy to allow me to get a little closer for a few shots. Another first real lifer for me.

I think the next few shots are the female (correct me if I'm wrong?) as it was smaller

I believe this is the male - much stockier & with brighter colours.
