Macro Winter Poppies

I took these macros in July, when I borrowed my friends macro lens for a week. I love the tiny details you are able to capture; details unseen by the human eye.

Miss Amira

My daughter, Bec, was given a female Princess Parrot for Christmas. She named her Amira which is a Hebrew name meaning princess. I have taken quite a number of photos of Amira since she came into our home. Now at almost 4 months old, her colours are starting to develop. They will be quite stunning when she is an adult.

She is developing blues on her head...

I love the combination of blues and purples on her rump and the teal feathers coming through on the underside of her pale blue wings...

I should have captured a shot of her tail... it's almost twice as long as her head and body combined!!
And, she is quite a character!

Finally!!... Yellow-striped Flutterer Dragonfly

A few days ago, I was absolutely delighted to finally capture a dragonfly on our Duranta bush. There are a few that hover around the backyard but never seem to stop for a rest, almost like they are taunting me. But this particular day, my patience paid off. I was able to capture a dragonfly on two occasions this day - in the afternoon it stopped to rest for quite some time (long enough for both Bec & I to take numerous shots).

Almost looks like it's fishing!!

Light as a feather

I discovered this little feather outside this afternoon. I think it belongs to one of the Pied Butcherbirds in our garden... so beautiful & soft.

My grasses from the farm trip attracted so many comments last week, so I thought I would post some more...

I Heart Macro & Macro Monday: Montville beauty

I discovered this flower in a garden in the quaint little township of Montville, while we were up in the Blackall Range on New Year's Day. It's SOOC. Isn't it beautiful?

Texture Thursday: Beach

After a few days stay at the RACV Club in Melbourne city, taking in some culture (the Johnson Collection, the opera Don Giovanni and a couple of lovely restaurant dinners with family) we drove back down to the Mornington Peninsula. We took the "scenic route" home along the beach road and stopped numerous times to photograph some beaches & piers.

I Heart Macro & Macro Monday

I am currently on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria visiting my parents for 10 days R & R. They have an absolutely beautiful cottage garden... my friend at Pieces of Contentment would call this "Wonderland". I am thoroughly enjoying walking around discovering the blooms & surprises at every turn. It was quite cool by Queensland standards & very windy today, but I have another week to go with warmer days forecast.

Here is a taste of what I captured this morning...

More to come... thanks for stopping by.
