I love finding new birds to photograph but I also love photographing the common ordinary Silver Gull, with it's hot chip stealing reputation! I'm not sure what it is but these birds are quite the characters... and there were no hot chips in sight this warm Winter's day. Keep an eye on the one on the left... he/she is quite a character...
"Ah, that lady with the stalker lens is following us. Let's move..."
"I think we out ran her..."
"No, you guys! She's still coming!"
"Maybe I'll be safe over here?"
"Hmm... maybe if I ignore her, she'll go away?"
"I'm not sure this is working! What if I tip toe quietly?"
"Nope!! OK, lady...Got any chips?? Hmmm... didn't think so!!"
I think I've been given the seagull death stare!!

Wordless Wednesday: Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers
On Saturday, we took a day trip up to Toowoomba (a 1.5 hour drive from Brisbane). As we neared the base of the mountain, traffic came to a standstill and it was clear that this drive was going to take MUCH more than 1.5 hours so I checked Google maps on my iPhone for an alternate route (many others followed us). Not long after we pulled off the highway, we were greeted by this view...
Some friends who also took the trip said it took well over 3 hours. Our detour resulted in a 2 hour drive :)
Now for the the real reason we went... and these don't need any words at all.

More Scenic Rim adventures
On our drive out into the Scenic Rim a few weeks ago, I stopped to take some barn shots with the surrounding mountains. I also discovered this old farm house. I just had to get a closer look... Thank goodness for the "stalker lens"!!
I wonder what stories this old house would have to tell??
