Wild Bird Wednesday: Bellbird Creek

In January this year, my hubby & I went for a day trip to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. In a place called Bellbird Creek there is a small café, on a property which is full of bird life. As we sat and ate lunch, we were surrounded by the sounds of bird calls. All the birds I photographed were lifers, so I was extremely happy!

The Bell Miner (also known as the Bellbird) has quite a distinct and unmistakable call.

A Yellow-spotted Honeyeater sat in a tree directly above us.

An elusive Brown Cuckoo-Dove sat in a tree across the small lake.

And a Buff-banded Rail wandered around the tables, ensuring it didn't get too close to these humans.

This property is home to many more species of birds which we will be more likely to see if we arrive in the morning. Another trip is planned later in the year.

Nice set of pictures! And all lifers!!

I could have got some images of the rail a while back - one was taking a bath in a water feature on a mini-golf course! Needless to say I did not have a camera!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

What a bag of beauties you got. Sometimes I really wish I had someone to travel with. Since my husband has been in a nursing home, I feel rather tied by the heels.

I'm surrounded by Bellbirds at the house in New Zealand and yet I rarely see them.
