Whale Watching on the Gold Coast

I've been a little slack posting over the last couple of weeks. I've been struggling with inspiration to edit my many images and to actually write a post. But here I am, and I have a wonderful experience to share!

I was contacted 2 weeks ago by a company on the Gold Coast offering me a free Whale Watching in return for posting 2 images on Instagram and providing them with a few my Hi-Resolution images for their use. To say I was excited is an understatement! The company also offered Michael a "staff rates" discount.

On the east coast of Australia, the Southern Humpback Whales are on their yearly northern migration from their feeding grounds in Antarctica to their birthing and mating grounds in the sub tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
The entire journey (northern & southern migration) is an epic 10.000 kilometres.

So, 10 days ago, Michael & I went on the Whale Watching experience with Spirit of Gold Coast. It was amazing to witness these enormous creatures frolicking in the ocean.

There was lots of diving...

And lots of tail fluke action...

But, unfortunately, no breaching. We intend to go back for more with our half price passes.

Speaks highly of your excellent photography talents that you should be given such freebies - and the results are great! They are only at the surface for a second so your trigger finger reflexes are obviously on point :)

Love every single one of the pictures! My husband and I once had a very close encounter with a whale while snorkelling (!) in Costa Rica. My husband came between mother and baby! I have never seen him coming out of the water so fast!!!

Happy day to you, my friend. xo.

Wonderful captures - congrats on your selection. (My English visitors and I were disappointed 2 weeks ago not to have seen the whales off Victor Harbour during our week-long stay) but am happy for your sighting
