Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge was illuminated yellow for the majority of the 75 years since it was built.
For a few years now, the bridge has been illuminated with different colours. Typically each lighting display on the bridge is to commemorate a special day in history, raise awareness for charities and showcase upcoming events. Here are the most common displays:
Pink.
One of the vast array of colours used during the Brisbane Festival fireworks.
Purple (charities such as Bravehearts Day, Epilepsy awareness Purple Day or Elder Abuse Day)
Rainbow for any LGBTI causes.
Green for Australia Day and any number of Australian sporting events or causes.
Orange for "Colour the World Orange Day", a cause for nerve pain awareness.
Blue.
Red for "Red Bow Day" (the annual fundraising campaign for Muscular Dystrophy Queensland)

What a grand, creative reason for bridge lighting colours. The bridge and river look stunning dressed up so beautifully.
Hello, what a gorgeous light show. The lights at night are always beautiful but these colorful lights are stunning. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!
A great collection of bridge lights
Howdy from East Tennessee!
I'm hopping from Skywatch Friday! I love the various light displays on the bridge and its reflection in the water with the city view in the background - beautiful job! Have a good weekend and when you get a chance stop by for a peek at my contribution (see my Thursday post). Be well!
I love our bridge and how you have captured her in her many colours.
Wow, those are gorgeous, Liz! Beautiful!
Wonderful photos, Liz. I always love your photography <3
These are such beautiful photographs, Liz.
The colors are just amazing.
Have a wonderful week ahead!
xo.
Amazing views. Superb clicks.
Those are awesome lights changing on that bridge. I've seen it in 2014 and had some shots too, but i guess not lighted like that. You took wonderful shots.
Wow - I love the colours. Great shots!
That bridge is so very pretty, but your captures are even better. You could make a book out of these, and people woudl buy it. So pretty.

Hi Liz, your photographs are lovely and what a beautiful sight that bridge must be for real. The lighting of the bridge is such a fun way to raise awareness. Popping over a tad late from Through My Lens.

A very clever and highly visible way to publicise special events and causes - and provide a treat for the photographers!
