Wild Bird Wednesday: Striated Heron

I love it when I go somewhere to photograph landscapes and happen upon some bird lifers. This particular day, I went to my favourite area of Moreton Bay - Wellington Point. While walking along the jetty I saw a bird on the rocks. I attached my zoom lens to my camera and started snapping away!

These are gorgeous! This is the first time I've seen this heron. It looks a lot like our Green Heron, but with different colors! The blue water makes a beautiful background!

I don't think I've ever seen that heron, Liz. He doesn't look very happy - I wonder if that's his every day look! (I work with someone like that! :O)
