These shots were taken early last year during our traditional storm season.
After enjoying a beautiful day on the beach, we headed to one of our favourite spots for sunset when a storm rolled in from the west.
The temporary buildings for the Quiksilver Pro surfing competition were still on Snapper Rocks Beach.
Around the corner at Froggies Beach, we were treated with a double rainbow.
It wasn't long before the skies became very dark and the rain started to fall heavily. I grabbed my camera and tripod and ran to the car.

Amazing! I could feel the summer air and hear the low grumbling of the thunder as I looked at those photos - you really captured the experience. I lingered longest on that photo of the surfer walking in front of the beach and building, all cast in that stormy yellow light.
I love Snapper Rocks and have spent a fair amount of time there this year myself. The rock pools are FULL of the most amazing fish, when the pools exist that is, as the sand pumped over from the Tweed River fills the area up for parts of the year.

That was the day we had planned to do our first sunset down along the Tweed River, and saw the storm in the distance. You wanted to get a storm from the headland and so we raced over to Snapper. Great memories and great pics :)
