Remnants of a Bygone Era

I have previously posted about The Briars, a beautiful rural property, only a short walk from my parents house, steeped in local history, flora and fauna. This beautiful old homestead, is situated at Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula on 230 hectares.

The first glimpse, and one of my favourite aspects, of this location's history is this fabulous old tractor, set halfway up the hill, alongside the main driveway into the property.

It must have been 1982 when I took my much-younger brother to Queensland. He was 14, and already an artist and an avid photographer. We had three cameras between the two of us, and I still remember him rushing up and asking to trade cameras with me. "This is a black and white shot," he said, as he rushed off to photograph old pieces of rusted abandoned machinery in a field, much like your photo here.
My young brother is now almost 50 and I am a great deal older than that, but we still remember Queensland.
Looking at a map just now, I was reminded of sailing off Queensland's coast. I seem to recall, but am not positive, that we went sailing from Noosa Heads. I remember the craft we sailed upon. It was a famous Australian racing yacht from the 1960s, by then in her dotage and put out to day-sailing with tourists.
We were there for her first day in her new incarnation, and one of the original racing crew was on board. I plied him for stories of Gretel competing in the America's Cup Yacht Race. What a day that was!
I've tried to post a photo of Gretel here in my comment, but was unable to do so. I think I just might add a second post to Our World Tuesday.
