A trip to Wynnum waterfront for some "girl time" on my daughter's 20th birthday, resulted in a lovely surprise. Not only was it an absolutely beautiful day, but I saw & captured 5 different birds that I haven't had the opportunity to see in real life. It was low tide & these birds were all foraging for food in the mud.
Here are a some of my images (more next week)...
Bar-tailed Godwit
Black-winged Stilt (juvenile)
Black-winged Stilt (mature)
More great birds for World Bird Wednesday here:

those stilts are just so dang impressive! :)
You have the most interesting birds in Australia. Love the stilts!
Amazing shots! I've never heard of those birds before. I just love the ones with the black winged stilts.
Happy WW!

I like the birds.
Beautiful!!!

Great photos - but now I am wondering what the other 3 were that you saw. I'll check next week. The Stilt photos are great. I see very few of them up here. As to the Godwits - Well you need to plan a trip up this way next September when the return migration occurs! Then you can see 1000's - literally!!
you were there with your camera at the right tidal change; great finds Liz; lovely photos of beautiful water-birds
Such an intriguing bird, fantastic captures Liz!
;-)WBW!
Both birds that I have captured (on camera!) in New Zealand. The Godwits' migration is one of the most amazing migration stories: for me second only to that of the Monarch Butterfly.
Congrats on the lifers Liz and, of course, your daughter's 20th B-Day! Love the shots of the Black-winged Stilts. They are so elegant!
Well captured, beautiful water birds, such long legs.
Magnificent shots, as always. Great birdlife too. By the by, I've nominated you for the 'Versatile Blogger' Award. It's definitely a well deserved title.
Great bird shots.
You have such patience Liz to capture these stunning bird shots.
