This Noisy Friar Bird visitis our backyard Grevillea several times a day. It has proven to be very elusive, hiding amongst the branches and sometimes flying away while I am getting my camera ready or just as I slide open the back door.
So one day, I had my camera ready, settings right, and I waited in the doorway...
Ha!! Got you!! Of course, I'll keep trying for more, without the leaves across it's beak...

Cool bird! I am happy you were able to get some photos. Great shots!
Great photos. I don't think I have ever seen that kind of bird.

Great close ups!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
wat het voor een vogel is weet ik niet maar hij is wel heel byzonder.
...those eyes!!! Oh those eyes. Eerie, yet ever so pretty.
Lovely close-up photos!
Great photos. They have been extra noisy around my yard recently.
I love it when I finally win the game of hide-and-seek. You did very well! Congrats!
So glad you smartness and patience was rewarded! You got a couple of cracker shots.
you certainly did pick up some delightful photographs Liz of the friar-bird. Quite a character.
Having to shot around branches can be really difficult - apart from the advantage of being able to use the "poor mans zoom" on digital - the ability to take lots of images in cases like this is a huge plus! That last images shows it can pay off.
Thanks for linking to WBW.
