The "home" was a house filled with love, a place of peace and safety, a place where people were valued, cared for, nurtured, protected and allowed to grow. In this home there was lots of laughter, talking, listening, singing. Those who lived there mattered because they were truly loved.
The grass was lush and green, the trees were healthy and well cared for, the skies were blue and the scenery was breathtaking...
The inhabitants wanted for nothing because their physical & emotional needs were met...
But one of the inhabitants was not convinced that where she lived was the best place...
And even though she knew that the "home" she lived in was all these wonderful things, she was convinced that the house on the other side was not really as it seemed...
She had seen the state of the house on the other side, with it's brown lifeless grass, it's gradually decaying trees and it's lack of healthy inhabitants. Even though she knew that each time she visited this house, she came back very ill, she was still drawn to this place....
And so, she determined to leave the "home" of safety, peace and love...
And to take up residence in the house that was lacking in love, peace and safety; where the grass was lifeless, the trees dying and the inhabitants were unhealthy, angry and fighting daily...
And even though those who loved and cared for this young soul knew that it would end terribly (as it had for others)... they had to let her go. And it cut to the core, because there was nothing they could do but wait until she was in danger again...
Because those who loved her dearly knew that the grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence... it is in fact dying & lifeless, as are the people.
