Texture Thursday: A whole new world of colour

This week for Texture Thursday I am linking up my first photo ever taken in RAW. My husband bought me a new laptop a week and a half ago as the old one, while top of the range & highest specs back in 2008, was struggling with my photos in JPG format.
Now armed with a high quality graphics card, 16GB RAM, a hard drive more than double my previous laptop, a high speed processor, the list goes on (YEP! I am a techno nerd!!). I now have the ability to deal with high quality images, so it was time to switch my camera over to RAW and what a surprise! I had heard the image quality is brilliant and the colours so much more diverse. I took a JPG image and then switched to RAW and took the same image (just to see the difference on my screen). Enough said... amazing difference! So now that I have bored you, heres my first RAW image (SOOC):

Would love to see a RAW and a JPEG of the same "shot" side by side.....

Must be wonderful to have a new laptop!

This is a lovely image.

Technically this is not a Raw SOOC as you had to convert it to JPG to upload it to your blog.

As a techie nerd myself, totally understand your enthusiasm! I have not ventured into RAW only due to how much disk space it takes up. Since I got my DSLR 9 months ago I probably have added 10,000 images to my library!

Not bored at all!!
So glad you are using RAW now Liz. It really does make an amazing difference, and there are so many more possibilities when it comes to post-procesing.

CONGRATULATIONS on your new computer!!

Ok, so got into the RAW "stuff," and neglected to say how much I love this photograph!
Wonderful focal point and what beautiful depth of field!

This is a beautiful shot and your processing options are much greater in RAW. Of course as was mentioned above by the time we get to see it, it is not only a jpeg, but a very small jpeg. Do keep originating in RAW though.

I really love the focus on this. And I really like the purple on the grey.

Beautiful shot, love the purple against the gray fence.
I shoot only RAW, it gives you so much more possibilities in white and black tones.
