It's The Little Things in Life

It's been a while since I posted. My husband Michael had emergency spinal surgery in early September, so blogging, day trips and photography have been put on hold.
Thankfully he got one of the top Neurosurgeons in Brisbane and his surgery has been a great success. I thank God for everything falling into place!

I decided that my first post back would be to share the importance of the little things in life and how that should always be our focus; they are the things that bring true happiness.

If happiness was determined by big meaningful events, then it would be difficult to continuously achieve. It is the small, and often unexpected, pleasures in life that can make us smile each and every day to help us build happier and more meaningful lives for ourselves and for others.

Small victories, random acts of kindness, a smile from a stranger, reading a book, laughter, a genuine hug, receiving an email or message from a friend, watching a sunset, small unexpected surprises, listening to your favourite music...

Brisbane City: Colour the World Orange

In November 2015, I was honoured to be involved in raising awareness for International Nerve Pain Awareness Month; also known as "Nervember".

Part of this included an evening planned for some night photography around the city of Brisbane where numerous buildings, including the Story Bridge, were lit up orange for the evening.

Story Bridge Lights

Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge was illuminated yellow for the majority of the 75 years since it was built.

For a few years now, the bridge has been illuminated with different colours. Typically each lighting display on the bridge is to commemorate a special day in history, raise awareness for charities and showcase upcoming events. Here are the most common displays:

Pink.

One of the vast array of colours used during the Brisbane Festival fireworks.

Purple (charities such as Bravehearts Day, Epilepsy awareness Purple Day or Elder Abuse Day)

Rainbow for any LGBTI causes.

Green for Australia Day and any number of Australian sporting events or causes.

Orange for "Colour the World Orange Day", a cause for nerve pain awareness.

Blue.

Red for "Red Bow Day" (the annual fundraising campaign for Muscular Dystrophy Queensland)
