Project 366 Rewind {Week 7}

It's been another rough week and I actually didn't think I would make my quota of Project 366 Rewind this time. But I managed... just. I didn't even know what the theme was but I certainly haven't followed it this week - so I am glad it's only optional.
Here are my images for the last week. I majored on landscapes this time around.

Day 43 - Water Lily at Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha. Even inside the Tropical Display Dome, the reflections were brilliant.

I almost went home before this (due to that big dark cloud) but turned around just as I was getting into the car and saw the colour developing... not the best sunset I have witnessed but the colours and reflections were worth capturing.

This week, I am posting fences of a very different kind - taken just before another tropical storm hit. This is one of my favourite sunset locations, Wellington Point on Moreton Bay in the "Redlands" area.

Fabulous Friday: Perspectives

I have had a full week of doctors appointments and tests this week. I usually take my camera with me on these days and stop somewhere on the way home to take some photos, as a kind of "pick-me-up". I have taken so many photos this week that I am really happy with, particularly my visit to Wellington Point & my first attempt at photographing the full moon.

So, for my Fabulous Friday post, I decided to post a few favourites that haven't been posted for other challenges this week.

The Creative Exchange: Wellington Point

On the way home from an appointment this afternoon, I drove to one of my favourite places by the bay near where I raised my children. I had packed my camera and the plan was to stop at Wellington Point Reserve, on Moreton Bay, to take some photos around the jetty, the bay and also to stay and capture the sunset over the water. All photos are SOOC.

On the weekends and in school holidays, Wellington Point is a haven for fishing, boating and various water sports.

I spotted a Brahminy Kite soaring in the sky, as they typically do. I was very happy with this capture as I am quite partial to photographing birds.

On the weekends, the jetty is full of fishermen & kids. It was rather deserted this afternoon.

Massive Moreton Bay Fig trees provide a fantastic natural playgound for children who like to climb.

A perfect day to be paddling in the water as the tide comes in.

At low tide you can walk out on the sand spit to nearby tiny King Island to investigate this unique conservation area, or visit Wellington Point Conservation Wetland. Though the tide was on the way in by this stage.

As the tide came in, the sun began to set over the clear, calm waters of the bay.

There is something so beautiful & amazing about a sunset! What a beautiful way to enjoy the end of a lovely warm Spring day.
(Yes, it's Spring in Australia!)

I am grateful today for beautiful weather and another opportunity to appreciate God's creation.

I plan to go back later this week with my youngest daughter for some more photography.

Cleveland Point

The day after my "A Walk in the Parklands" I had another specialist appointment down in an area of Brisbane called "The Redlands" - named because of its rich red soil. We moved to this area when we first came up to Brisbane back in 1989 and I raised my children there for 20 years.

Just walking in the main street of Cleveland had me reminiscing of days gone by when my children were younger, and I realised how much I have missed this peaceful area over the last 2 years. Life has become so busy after remarrying, becoming an "other mother" to 5 daughters (2 of whom are young teenagers) and the enormous curve-balls of my daughter's severe illness, my own chronic illness & injury and my oldest son's continued struggles. 

I decided to drive down to Cleveland Point to sit peacefully with a nice hot chocolate, take some photos (my camera was still in my handbag), read for a while and perhaps watch the sunset.
Two days in a row of time out and "self-care" - that must be a record!!

So peaceful

The Lighthouse was built in 1865 and is the only remaining timber structured 19th century lighthouse in Moreton Bay.

And then the sun began to set...

I LOVE sunsets... such a beautiful reminder of God's amazing creation.
