World Bird Wednesday: A Great Egret or two

Another bird from my trip out to Lake Wivenhoe. This Great Egret with non breeding facial colour - yellow bill and facial skin. This one wasn't keen on allowing me very close even with my "stalker lens"

OK... too close. I'm out of here!

Yep... I think this is far enough away from stalker lady...

As I was photographing the developing colours of the sunset I saw another Great Egret

Sporting breeding colours - bill mostly black and facial colours green

This one wasn't too sure about stalker lady either!

Project 366 Rewind {Week 9}

Another week down... it's going so fast!

Day 57 - Beauty in the ordinary. One of the things I love about photography is the ability to see beauty in even the simplest, most ordinary things.

Day 58 - There are some things I just can't do without. Here are 2: my laptop & Adobe Lightroom 4 Beta. (not sure what I am going to do when the trial ends on March 31)

Day 59 - I love having the ability to add a rustic touch to my images in PS Lightroom.

Day 60 - Some PS Lightroom 4 editing fun (before & after).

Day 61 - I am also participating in a photo-a-day challenge on Instagram with Fat Mum Slim. The theme for March 1 was "Up". I thought I would take advantage of the beautiful blue skies.

Day 62 - Blue Banded Bee-copter.
I went out to the yard for some inspiration to the only bush we have in our backyard and was surprised by this find.

Day 63 - Rain, rain, go away...
The blues skies and sunshine were short lived (I think possibly only 5 days worth) and now it's back to grey skies, rain and severe flooding in South East Queensland.

I'm looking forward to blog hopping to see what others have posted for last week.

Weekend Flowers & a Surprise

I ventured out into the backyard for some photographic inspiration. We only have ONE bush in the backyard (a Duranta) so I am not sure why I was searching for inspiration there, but I discovered a treasure by chance...

On closer inspection... a Blue Banded Bee (it's one of Australia's native bees)

I was very pleased with these captures - taken with my 55-250mm telephoto zoom lens  :)

Friday's Fences: Once upon a time fence

Lacking the wire that once made this fence complete... It's still a fence though, on a very old property in Victoria, Australia.

Skywatch & a Celebration!

I love the Skywatch Friday link up and I often combine it with Fabulous Friday. This week, I reached 150 followers!! (I think that qualifies as "Fabulous")
When I started blogging, back in July 2011, I had no idea what to expect. The original purpose for my blog was not photography at all. However, I soon discovered a world of brilliant & experienced photographers who were willing to share their ideas & knowledge with novice photography lovers like me. I have met some amazing people, joined some wonderful weekly link ups and have been challenged to venture into areas of photography that I would never have thought to try.

After weeks of severe Summer storms, rain & floods, we have had clear blue skies with barely a cloud, plenty of sunshine and very hot days. Here are some images from the week.

Wild & Wonderful, This & That and a little Texture

I think it's time for another drive down to the Gold Coast (and perhaps even over the border again) for another dose of the beach. I love the sea breezes, waves, rocks, sand, textures...

It was certainly wild & wonderful!

I am loving the natural textures of water, rocks and seagulls in these next shots.

How has your week been? Wild, Wonderful or something else?
