Wild Bird Wednesday: Australian Magpie

I took these photos last year on one of our drives out to Wivenhoe Dam. I love the antics of this young Magpie.

Listening for his food

"Yep... there's something tasty in there."

"Mmmmmm... delicious!"

"Oi!! This is my turf!"

"I've got my eye on you."

"Still watching you..."

Not really my favourite bird to be honest but listening to their warbling calls can be very haunting.

Nice shots - I love these birds when they still have that grey flecking in the plumage. And what a voice!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

PS: read the post before as well - hope its a small number of rising and settings. SM

Hi Liz! Sorry I haven't been in contact lately but things have been crazy to say the least. Got a call last week saying that I was going in for surgery yesterday. The surgery was scheduled for 2hrs but it lasted for 5hrs. The pulled my battery from my back and put the new one just under my left clavicle. What I wasn't bargaining for was the fluid that they found in around the battery. They are concerned about it and scraped around the area to clean it all up, as well as sent cultures off. I'm to see the surgeon in two days to see if surgery is needed again. It was clearly infected but the question is has it gone into my spine. My pain is not good but I know you understand where I'm coming from because like me you live this every day, that's why I feel I can tell you this. Anyway I'll keep you posted!
