Early last month, we took 2 day trips to some Sunflower fields near Warwick, QLD. I had been given the tip by a photographer friend, that there was a field still in flower (rather late for the time of year). The weather on the first day wasn't great (rain) and we almost didn't go. But a few photographer friends, who had left earlier than us, assured us that the weather was much finer inland. Not raining, at least! It was a two hour drive.
A stop on the way at Aratula, to photograph these amazing clouds, this beautiful scene... and part of the Great Dividing Range.
And another stop, to photograph this beautiful rainbow as we drove up through "Cunningham's Gap" - one of the passes through the Great Dividing Range. The mountain in the foreground is one of the mountains in the background of the previous 2 images...
This is what we were greeted with when we arrived at the field. As you can see, the sky was quite overcast.
A week later we went back when the weather was clearer...
I love how the sunlight caught the petals of the sunflowers as it sank lower in the sky...
And sunset was much more colourful...

how beautiful a journey and your photographs of the lovely sunflowers Liz
Looks like a first class day out! The sunflowers are lovely but those mountains bring a tear to my eye!
Lovely vistas! Your flowers and sunsets are just marvelous!
Fabulous! What a pretty area, and I love love those sunflowers!
Wow! That last shot is stunning! They are all great and I love the movement in the clouds that you caught. It's my goal this year to capture a sunflower field but for the last few years farmers in our area haven't been growing them as much. You have such amazing vistas in your region and one day I'm going to have to get down there to go on a shoot with you!
Stunning definitely is an understatement. Love the photos and the header too. Great job.
