Wild Bird Wednesday: Silvereye

I heard this little bird before I saw it and, as it is very small in size, it was difficult to see in the fading light. It was quite elusive, hiding in the foliage of a tall tree, but I managed a few shots before it flew away.

Bird in Backyards describes the Silvereye as:

"a small bird with a conspicuous ring of white feathers around the eye, and belongs to a group of birds known as white-eyes. The Silvereye shows interesting plumage variations across its range. The grey back and olive-green head and wings are found in birds through the east, while western birds have a uniformly olive-green back."

They are nice little birds - and I've only managed to get pictures of them twice!

Glad you like the wordy post over on the other blog - as you may have noticed it does take a little bit of work!

Cheers - and thanks for the WBW and comments - Stewart M - Melbourne
