Brisbane City Night Lights: It's Been A While

While night time long exposure is possibly my favourite genre of photography, it has been quite some time since I have been out with my camera in Brisbane city at night. I think it's been close to 12 months now, which is an age for me!
In fact I have barely been out with my camera at all over the last 5 months!

Here are some night city images I haven't yet shared, taken along the Brisbane River, below Kangaroo Point Cliffs, about 2 years ago...

These ones were taken the same night, at Wilson's Outlook in New Farm where you get a great view of Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge with the city behind.

Wow they are so very very beautiful. I would love taking those night shots too, but am not as good yet, yet hehe! I visited Brisbane last Dec to see my college housemate who lives there already. My photos are just hurriedly done handheld from the other side of the river bank, but i treasure the experience. How i wish i can visit again and have a tripod. By the way, i lost my sentimental hand-painted white hat while photographing things at the Gold Coast, oh how i miss my hat!

Beautiful lights. Where we live there's a paper mill that's lit all night long. All the lights are white, but in the early days of the 1900s when it was built, there were no other lights around. It got the nickname "The White City." It must have been something to see in those days in the surrounding darkness. Even today with other city lights it's impressive. - Margy

Every time I see these types of picture I think 'I need to try that' - and then bed up getting distracted! (Possibly by unicorns!)

Lovely photos, Liz. Perhaps I can break you out of hospital one night this week for some night shots before your curfew :)

Brisbane is a beautiful city and it gets even more stunning at night with all the bright lights from the skyscrapers reflecting in the river. I would love to be able to capture some striking angles like you did some day and keep them in my portfolio for future references.
