Memories

Today wasn't one of my best days... living with chronic illness and a heart condition can be somewhat difficult at times and can cause even the best laid plans to grind to a halt. I had plans to meet my best friend, Nat, for coffee - she lives almost an hours drive away on the Gold Coast now and we don't get to see one another enough. We usually meet for coffee half way between our homes every second Friday after she sees her doctor (she also has a heart condition). Sadly, I had to rest at home and had to cancel my plans for coffee and to have a quiet stroll afterwards with my camera.

Instead, I decided to do what usually cheers me up on days like this - look through my thousands (more like hundreds of thousands) of family photos. This is always a pick-me-up :)

I came across my Christmas 2004 album - most photos have been taken by my sister on her little digital camera. I didn't own one at that time and was still using my Minolta SLR as you will see in one photo...

"The Denehy 5" as we called ourselves... It's just NOT cool for a 15 year old boy to smile for the camera.
This was the year Bec (12) almost caught Ben (13) in height...

A sign never stopped a bunch of adventurous boys on Christmas Day!!

OK Dan, on the count of three...

We aren't jumping... these are tricks and that's different!

Note: My Minolta SLR (I still have a half full film stuck in it)

Texture Thursday: Eastern Water Dragon

Out on a lovely spring day in one of my favourite gardens, my original plan was to capture more beautiful flowers... until I stumbled upon this textured creature...

The Creative Exchange: Suitcase Rummage

On Father's Day, I ventured into Brisbane city with my youngest daughter and 3 of my step-daughters. Our plan was to surprise my husband, who was working, & spend lunch with him.

After our lunch, we walked to the top of the Queen Street Mall to explore the Suitcase Rummage, in Reddacliff Place (Brisbane Square). We had never been there before but were pleasantly surprised at what we discovered...

I am not sure how I managed to take this one photo in B&W but I love the accidental effect

Some stalls were different...

I couldn't help myself, snapping this young man with dreadlocks down past his bottom

It was a lovely & interesting Sunday afternoon, exploring our city without even leaving Queen Street...

The Creative Exchange: Westminster Abbey Gardens

This is my first time linking to "The Creative Exchange".

Just a couple of days ago, I was looking through my photos of my first trip to UK and Europe in September/October 2010. I have finally finished sorting the 3500 photos into different files on my computer (London, Wales, Rome, Venice, Bath & Cotwolds and Paris) so that I can choose those worthy of printing.

It has been almost a year since that trip and chronic illness has gotten in the way of an awful lot.

I was reminiscing in my London file and came across a few of my favourite photos from my visit to Westminster Abbey. I was so taken with the beauty of these gardens. I just snapped these hoping to capture what my heart felt at the time - the wonder & beauty coupled with the history... amazement!

I hope these are suitable for this photography challenge...

**These photos were taken with my Canon Digital IXUS 950IS camera - the only digital camera I owned at the time (the plan was originally to by myself a DSLR camera before the trip but the cost totally blew out!!!)

Fabulous Friday: NARNIA

It was incredibly difficult to chose a photo today. I have only had my Digital SLR for 2 weeks and yesterday afternoon I bought myself the 55-250mm lens. Since then I have taken over 500 photos. I posted a number of macros in my previous post, so I decided to look for something quite different.

I really like this one, just randomly taken as I was walking back to the car after photographing the sunset. All that's missing is the snow...

S P R I N G

It's the second day of Spring, and it seems all the creatures know it! They have all come out of hiding to enjoy the beautiful warm days.

I began my day capturing the various creatures in our street before taking a drive into the city, with my husband and my youngest daughter, to one of my favourite places (Roma Street Parklands). These spectacular gardens are always full of gorgeous flowers, plants and great macro opportunities but today's visit provided some great surprises...

I'M THANKFUL ON THURSDAY

I stumbled upon this and I thought. "Why not?''
One of my first posts on this blog was about my Gratitude Journal. Feel free to read it.

Today I bought myself a new lens and decided to take a drive up to Mt Gravatt Mountain to capture the sunset.

So what am I thankful for today?? The first sunset of Spring...

Here are a few of my photos:
