Barn Charm in the Somerset Region

Our trip out west last week resulted in many great shots of country scenesPelicans, Lake Wivenhoe, beautiful sunsets and some surprise barn charm at sunset.

From the main road, I noticed this little cemetery. So we turned onto the dirt road to get a closer look just as the sun set over the mountains.

Behind the cemetery was, what looked like, a community of barns... with a stunning backdrop.

Hooray for the "stalker lens" and a closer look.

I would love to know the story of this group of barns...

Beautiful shots, Liz! How fun to find so many barns in one spot. Oh how I wish I had a stalker lens so I could get closer looks. I like taking photos of cemeteries too, especially older ones.

What idyllic shots and I now know there is a Somerset in Australia as well as the UK!

It is a strange place, ghost town. It must have been a special experience.

Wonderful shots, Liz! You should go into business! I love old cemeteries and the stories buried there. And old barns are fabulous - what a great ombination. We were exploring my grandma and grandpa's deserted property a few years ago with my cousin - the stories we remembered were so heart jerking.

My first visit - and it's like going home. My parents' families come from around Laidley and I know I've seen that scene in the first shot. I know those mountains but can't place them. But I'm going to enjoy searching my memory until I remember. Beautiful photography!
