Wild Bird Wednesday: White-faced Heron

While out at Wivenhoe Dam a few weeks ago, I came across this White-faced Heron.

Looks like he spied some food...

Gotcha!!

Great shots of the heron. I am so envious of all of you that see them as we don't have them around here.

Gorgeous - I love water birds - they are so elegant and I love watching them fly - so graceful!! :)

Good pictures. What I find amazing is that the Heron stands still and all of a sudden he attacks the fish. What a hunter.

Great photos - especially the "gotcha" one! Sorry no word on the migrating birds yet - I have had several days off sick and just haven't been out there.

Sorry I haven't been in touch lately Liz! Like you I've had an enormous amount on my plate as of late. I love this Heron and haven't seen them before. We have Heron's here in Canada but not that type. How are things going right now?

It's intriguing to see just how many shapes that neck can twist into!!!

Nice set of pictures - I like these herons - I think they were the first heron I saw when I moved to Australia.

I remember the water dragons being in the botanic gardens in Brisbane.

As you may be able to tell from the shape of my Kite pictures, there was a bit of cropping involved in the images!

Thanks for linking to WBW.

Lovely heron shots!
Those we have here in Sweden are very shy and flies to quickly, I think!
