Although the male mallard looks very much like ours here in the U.S., the female has those awesome eyeliner marks around her eyes -- just gorgeous!

I've looked and looked at these and if this lake isn't the Nudgee waterhole, it's remarkably like it. I grew up in Nudgee when it was an overgrown mudhole, we much preferred to visit the bora ring (long before the walkway went in). You've kicked off my memories - thank you.
